As a Catholic community, we seek to ensure the EREA Touchstones, our Christian values and our college values of Faith, Joy, Community and Relationships are reflected across every facet of our school. We aim to provide meaningful and engaging faith opportunities that are relevant and significant in the context of our students’ lives.
Religious Education is an important part of the school curriculum at St Edmund's College. The Religious Program follows the flow of the liturgical year and encompasses key Catholic Liturgical Events, an understanding of God and the life of Jesus and actively living out the Gospel Values. The curriculum is designed in a spiral format which builds and consolidates knowledge from Year 5 to Year 12. The overall purpose of our Religious Education is to support each student’s growth in faith. This is achieved through the Catholic ethos of the College and the students’ experiences of prayer, liturgy, spiritual days, service to others, Mass attendance, retreats and participation in Sacramental programs.
Students are invited to deepen their Catholic Faith by participating in the St Edmund's College Sacramental Program which is provided in school hours. We work in unison with our Parish Priest and the sacramental coordinator at Holy Name Church, Wahroonga. We also engage with the families of our students to enable them to undertake the Sacraments of Confirmation, Reconciliation and First Communion. We also offer the opportunity for students to be baptised into the Catholic faith, if this is their wish.
